Psalm 103:1-10
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
And all that is within me, bless His holy name!
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,
Who redeems your life from destruction,
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies,
Who satisfies your mouth with good things,
So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.
The Lord executes righteousness
And justice for all who are oppressed.
He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
And justice for all who are oppressed.
He made known His ways to Moses,
His acts to the children of Israel.
The Lord is merciful and gracious,
Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy.
He will not always strive with us,
Nor will He keep His anger forever.
He has not dealt with us according to our sins,
Nor punished us according to our iniquities.
We were a few months looking at the Lord’s benefits
to His children.
The psalmist reminds us not to forget them,
God
Forgives our sins,
Heals our sicknesses
Redeems us from His wrath
His lovingkindness and tender mercies are poured
upon us daily, even when things are hard, when we have trials and tribulations,
we can rest in Him, and rely on His lovingkindness and tender mercy. It's not
just mercy, it is tender mercy. God doesn't deal with us harshly, He doesn't
call us out and tell us to pull our socks up and get over it. He is gentle,
kind, tender and merciful.
And so the psalmist goes on,
God
gives us good things
He looks on the oppressed and will execute justice.
He is slow to anger
Abounds in mercy,
We do not get what we deserve, He is faithful and
just and those who call to Him will be saved. His anger doesn't stay against us
when we sin, He doesn't punish us, but rather He forgives all who repent of
their sins.
Just these few benefits are overwhelming, but there are many that come from these, such as the joy of the Lord, the peace that passes understanding, a peace that the world knows nothing of. All the benefits of the fruit of the Holy Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5:22-26
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace,
longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Meekness, temperance: against such there is no
law.
And they that are Christ's have crucified the
flesh
with the affections and lusts.
If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in
the Spirit.
Let us not be desirous of vain glory,
provoking one another, envying one another.
We certainly had a lot to meditate on, and it
was such a blessing and encouragement.
Christian, trust in God’s benefits, and remember
them daily, giving thanks.
